Benchmarking

An increasingly competitive and fast-paced wireless industry poses many challenges to the systems of carriers and associated supplier organizations. At BCI, we are focused on providing a wide range of service capabilities geared towards meeting the varied and complex requirements of the industry.

As the number of competing service providers grows, quality of service and the need to exceed expectations are of paramount importance. BCI’s drive programs provide customers with an unbiased view of their own—as well as the competition’s—network performance as experienced by cellular subscribers.

We utilize best-in-class test equipment solutions from several test equipment providers. Integrated capabilities of our system include quality of service measurements, competitive benchmarking and engineering analysis to facilitate corrective action in areas of competitive weakness. Benchmarking equipment can allow apples-to-apples comparisons of wireless networks that utilize different voice and data access protocols including: GSM/UMTS/HSDPA (850, 900, 1800 and/or 1900 MHz), iDEN, CDMA (Cellular or PCS), 2G, 2.5G, 3G, 4G, WiMAX and LTE.

Data collection methods

BCI has traditionally tested mobile, in-vehicle network performance. This method provides a total snapshot of each carrier’s voice and data network performance, and the effect handoffs and re-selections have on that performance. BCI also has significant experience benchmarking in-building performance.

BCI can perform all drive testing duties at any time on a live network and very rarely will there be any network intrusion. Network quality is maintained resulting in higher speech quality index; optimization services for the network operator are increased revenues and reduced costs; and stronger competitiveness results in higher customer satisfaction.
